Marco trained as a carpenter in the Netherlands, where building for climate is standard. When he arrived in Perth, he saw an industry that relied on air conditioning to make up for poor thermal design.
He started MK Building Solutions in 2011. In 2024 the company became Norde Homes, named after "Nord" (north), reflecting his Dutch roots and the northern orientation at the heart of passive solar design. Marco is still hands-on with every project.

Our North Perth extension integrated a modern, energy-efficient addition with a 1900s heritage home. The exposed concrete floors with underfloor heating, blackbutt cladding and 8.6 NatHERS rating earned it recognition at the HIA awards.
